It is with great pleasure that UMAA shares the good news of the formation of a Democratic Parliament of Iraq. This is the beginning of a democratic parliamentary system that has been denied to the majority Shia population for the last twelve hundred years.

Insha'allah, this change will lead to elections that will bring stability, peace, and safety to all. This will also provide appropriate representation to all the factions in Iraq, particularly to the Shia majority. Shias in particular have always been at a disadvantage ever since the great sacrifice of Shaheede Azam Hazrat Imam Husain (as).

Congratulations to the Prime Minister, Dr. Iyad Allawi, and his group of dedicated Iraqis who are going to change the course of history in their country.

The guidance and advice of all of our Maraje have played a pivotal role towards accomplishing this great achievement.
