Universal Muslim Association of America 9th Annual Convention Communiqué
One of the major needs of our Shia muslim community has been the need for unity and collaboration. We have been hearing this sentiment over and over again from momineen across the continent. It was with this in mind that the topic of collaboration was made one of the core themes of this year’s convention. In that spirit, 5 major national Shia organizations came together on a common platform to deliberate upon feasibility of effective collaboration. We held a productive session with the leadership of the Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya, Imamia Medics International, Islamic Information Center, NASIMCO, and UMAA. In this historic session the leadership teams of the 5 organizations sat together to discuss future collaboration to advance the cause of Shia Muslims of North America in the service of Imam Zamana (May Allah Hasten his Reappearance).
We are delighted to report that as of this historic session, these five organizations agreed to continue to hold discussions on collaborative efforts on a continuous basis throughout the year. UMAA will facilitate the first follow up meeting within the quarter to discuss the principles of such collaborations and the way forward.
Such a collaboration will be monumental in unifying and advancing the affairs of Shia Muslims of North America. We pray that this joint effort will result in the enhancement of services provided to the community at large.
